Finishing touches
So I just finished my scenes. Since they haven't been looked at since the last critique and I still have yet to add sound, I won't go into editing them just yet. I'll bring the swf and fla files to class tomorrow.

Where I am at
Sean,
I made corrections and adjustments to my scenes that I showed you last week. I also have one more scene to go to finish my animation/book and then it's on to sound and then combining my scenes altogether into one video file. I'll bring in everything I have so far tomorrow.

Where I am at
Hey Sean,
I just finished doing my first 5 scenes. Since I didn't export the swf files into quicktime or any kind of video file yet, I'll send them to you via email. I'll bring them to class as well.

Where I am at
To Sean,
I wanted to know what people thought of my script, story, etc today so I did not touch lightwave since last week. If you want me to go ahead and finish up what I wanted to have done for today in lightwave, I will do that for next class. Please leave any questions or comments.

Script
Script: The camera will face the wolf in the forest walking around (daylight for 5 seconds). The camera will cut to the dove living up on a tree in the grass field for the next 5 seconds and then cut to the robot living in the grass field (next 5 seconds). The camera cuts back to the wolf walking to the grass field and howls to summon the other 2 (next 8 seconds). The camera then focuses on the dove responding with a couple quacks and the robot responding with sound effects that sound like laser beams being shot (next 6 seconds). Camera first zooms in on the wolf growling (translation will be provided: Get off my territory!), then to the dove quacking out (translation will be provided: You're an eyesore!), and then to the robot making irregular noises (translation will be provided: I sense an error in all of you!) and then zooms out enough to be able to see all 3 because they do not want to see each other (next 12 seconds). The camera stays still until they eventually all leave and then cuts to the wolf returning to the forest and the scene changes from broad daylight to evening (next 5 seconds). The camera then returns to the grass field to where the dove and robot are and the scene changes from broad daylight to evening here as well (next 5 seconds and an additional 3 seconds for the indicator displaying "Next Day"). Neither of the characters move from their spots for a couple days but the camera will go back and forth between the forest and the grass field changing from daylight to evening for a couple days (The indicator will once again display "Next Day" and this will take up a total of 15 seconds: 3 seconds for forest (daylight), 3 seconds for grass field (daylight), 3 seconds for forest (evening), 3 seconds for grass field (evening), and finally an additional 3 seconds for the "Next Day" display. The next morning, the camera focuses on each character for 5 seconds and they all think to themselves: I've been too harsh to the neighbors even though they are not my species (15 seconds). The camera then focuses on the characters meeting up at the same place with the wolf coming into the screen from the left and the robot from the right and the dove from above where they were hostile towards each other and all talk in their own language (translation will be provided: Apologizing to one another) and then shyly but surely approach one another with the wolf first sitting next to the dove and the robot giving them all a hug to live in peace (15 seconds). The camera zooms in on all 3 characters coming into the screen and then ends after they become friends and live happily ever after(last 15 seconds).

production schedule and script
Story: There was once a robot, wolf, and dove living in peace as friends. However, this was before they came to know each other better. They distance themselves becoming racist and stereotyping each other and putting a barrier between themselves obviously not speaking to each other for a couple days. They eventually come to regret doing that to one another because they realized they have become alone. Therefore, they each have a change in mind one day and all of them eventually meet up and work things out to live in peace once again.
Production schedule: Now that there are about 10 weeks left, I decided to put in 6 weeks toward my animation and the last 4 weeks of camera work, lighting, rendering, music, sound, and editing.
To Sean and the rest of the class: Please leave comments for suggestions, recommendations, questions, etc.

final project
Finally done with my final project. Although it is similar to the example you gave us, I made mine a little more complicated. I sketched out my previous idea of a character collecting food in a movie clip map and instead made a matching game of it instead. There are a total of 6 different kinds of foods and here's the weird and challenging part about it. Even though you pick two matching ones, you won't always score the point. For example, there will be more than 2 vegetables in the matching game and even if you manage to pick them out, the game won't give you points. You will have to find the ones that match with each other. It is not easy to explain with words. You will have to play the game and find out what I mean. Anyways, it will be up on the server tomorrow sometime during the afternoon.

exercise 4
I have just finished my proposal for Exercise 4. It is about the player taking control of a fireball and burning whatever is burnable to earn points and reaching the final destination by jumping and running from platform to platform. It is very similar to the classic 2D Mario Brothers game except there are no enemies and only objects that give you points and the fact that there are pits in which you can die from. I hope to accomplish this game the way I have it in mind in the near future.

Project 2 finished but malfunctioning
So I have finished Project 2 (it will be in the server like the previous assignments have been) and as you can see in my title, there is some kind of malfunction going on. Whenever I try to play the game, this is what pops up: TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.
at SideViewGame/createCrab()
at SideViewGame/startGameLevel()
at SideViewGame/frame2()
I have been trying to fix this for the longest time, and still couldn't get it fixed. I will ask you tomorrow in class about it. That's all for now.

Virtual Jihadi
Personally, I do not feel offended by the way they made this game but I can see why other people would overreact or feel offended by the creation of this game. Although I think it had a lame excuse for shutting down, I'm not hating on the people who would be shocked if they see or play this game. Like they say, it's only a game. Nothing more, nothing less. I am a pretty hardcore gamer myself and I've seen way more games that are offensive in several ways. Seeing this game reminded me of the mini game which was created of the former soccer star Zinedine Zidane trying to headbutt an Italian player due to the final seconds of the final match in the 2006 World Cup in which Zidane really did headbutt him in the chest.

project 1 finished
Finally! After working on this project for 2 straight days and going through so many errors, I finally got it to work properly. Although there are still output errors that I'm getting when I'm playing this game, the game is definitely playable. I came up with this idea because I personally love all kinds of shooting games whether it be first-person, third-person, 2D, etc. Also, the first classic shooting game I ever played was duck hunt when I was a kid. I thought to myself "Why not create something similar?" as I was brainstorming and getting this project done. I still want to ask you about why I'm getting output errors as I play so I'll ask you in class tomorrow. It should be up in the server now.

exercises done
I have all my exercises done and up on the server. I don't know if you've taken a look at them already but they should all be there right now. Project 1 coming soon...

exercise 3 stuff
Okay, I have been working on this pretty much the whole week and when I went to the lab earlier today, the lab monitor didn't show up, and therefore, I wasn't able to get in and put my work on the server. Furthermore, because I do not know how to upload swf files and was originally intending on submitting my work through the server, I will talk about my work right here. For "Marcus_exercise3a(1)", I used Cloud's motorcycle from the movie "Final Fantasy VII Advent Children" to just accelerate forward. For "Marcus_exercise3a(2)", I used a sports car to make it look like he was racing toward something. For "Marcus_exercise3a(3)", I took a car that I drew last semester from my sketchbook and made it come alive. I know the movements are pretty straightforward and that's because I wasn't familiar with how to make them perform differently while moving or accelerating. Now moving on to the second part of this assignment. I didn't have much of a problem with this part as I used the shooter codes as reference and I used a gun, bullet, and a target to make this happen. The gun will spin around 360 degrees with the mouse and shoot bullets with every click while targets randomly show up on stage. I will have my work on the server probably by tomorrow morning a little before class starts.

exercise 2
I got my character performing a couple actions but there was one major problem..I can't get him to walk to the right when I can get him to walk left, duck, and jump. I think it has something to do with my code in ActionScript but I couldn't find what was wrong with it (the error message doesn't pop up when I test the movie). I will ask you about it tomorrow in class. I'm also not sure how to post fla and swf files onto blogger so I will have the files inside the CAR server.

This is my first image vectorized before combining.
This is my second image vectorized before combining.
This is my final product of the two combined images. What I aimed for here is the fact that Dr. Mario is Mario as well so therefore, Mario in his original uniform is angry at the message and he is burning it. Since Mario is capable of shooting fireballs and burning his enemies, I varied his capabilities by making him Devil Mario (he can burn whatever he likes by simply looking at it.

Sprite Sheet
Where I am so far with my character
I have been doing sketches in my sketchbook and I have a character which will have famous fashion logos on his body. I do not know what kind of body or face he will have yet. I will post him in my Sprite sheet soon.

My opinion on Demistified
This packet pretty much describes every aspect of all kinds of games in general. I enjoyed reading this packet because not only did it contain information about games but it showed me different perspectives and terms about games that I had never come across before considering I have been playing and enjoying all kinds of games for the past 16 years of my life. I hope to get a lot out of this class and be able to make my own games at any given time with Flash by the end.
